Haiti’s Road to Ruin  The Georgia Straight

Haiti is a Caribbean nation virtually denuded of its once-abundant stands of mahogany, resulting in massive erosion problems. As a result, entire cities like Gonaives have been almost wiped off the map by mudslides during hurricane season.
