This is a terrific short documentary on the extreme dangers journalists face reporting in Afghanistan. It features award-winning journalist Shakila ibrahimkhail, one of the main characters in my own documentary Mightier Than The Sword. Me and my Afghan film crew saw firsthand the extreme security measures that the TOLO TV facility undertook to keep staff safe, as there were constant rumours of an imminent Taliban attack. Then, this past January, the Taliban succeeded, killing seven employees outside TOLO TV grounds by driving a car packed with explosives into a minivan taking staff home. At least 20 people, including women and children, were wounded by the blast.The government afterwards pledged to provide more security for media outlets and journalists.
